The tribe are happy to annouce that we’ll be trialling two new adventures at Thetford Forest this half term (Thursday 29th October – Sunday 1st November) and thought you might like to know about them. Read on to find out more or click on the links to see Tree Climbing and the Powerfan for yourself.

Tree ClimbingTree Climbing comes to Thetford Forest!

As featured in our Tribe magazine, we will be trialling Tree Climbing (you’ll probably remember this as Monkey Hardware!). You’ll get to climb up to 8 metres high in the trees using artificial holds strapped to their trunks. It’s similar to a climbing wall, but you get to hug a tree as you go!

Dive into the Powerfan

We’ll also be trialling a Powerfan – our 13 metre freefall adventure (no parachute or bungee cord required). As you reach a top speed of forty feet per second, the Powerfan to which you are attached, will slow your descent speed to a gentle landing that equates to jumping off four copies of the Yellow Pages! Feeling brave?

Altus have finished building the course and are now starting on anther new course for 2010 in Coed-y-Brenin. The Pembrey course has all the great features of a normal Go Ape course plus two new crossings which you will have a chance to name in a competition coming very soon.

The landing sites for the ziplines are nearly finished with just the wood chip to put in. The scaffolding has been taken down for the decking to finally complete the cabin which should be finished by the weekend. The paths are finished and are all surfaced with sand from the beach!

With only a few finishing touches to be put in place Go Ape Pembrey should be finished in the next week or two.

We’ll be taking bookings for next year at the end of next month. In the meantime, if you want to get your fellow gorilla a new year adventure for Christmas, then vouchers are no sale. Order by 11th December to get them in time for the 25th!

The shingling on the roof of the cabin is finished and the windows and doors have been put in place. Staining of the exterior of the cabin has started today with only a third left to spray. All four stockades have been finished with only the locks left to put on to complete them.

The landing sites for the ziplines have been started and they aim to finish one of them tomorrow and have the bark peel put in ready (for you to scoop up in your pants as you land).

Altus have nearly finished all of the sites with a few final checks to be undertaken before they are off to start on another new Go Ape site in North Wales.

In the next post, we’ll show you one of the new crossings and you’ll al have a chance to suggest a name for it.

All in all Pembrey is moving along very fast and looks to be an exciting Go Ape site when it’s finished in the very near future.

The Pembrey Go Ape cabin is taking shape nicely with the water proof lining being overlain by the wooden shingles (tiles). The insulation has been finished along with the skylights and windows which were put in place over the weekend.

Altus have nearly finished site 3 with a few finishing touches being applied as you read this. Site 3 has a new type of crossing for Go Ape courses which form a competition in the very near future so keep posted…..

Peacock at Leeds CastleThe Go Ape Leeds Castle tribe had a rather surprising visitor in the Go Ape cabin today – a peacock! Must have strolled over from the grounds at the castle to see what was going on. Needless to say, he (or she) couldn’t go on the course.
